Special Investors Resident Visa
Special Investors Resident Visa (SIRV) enables foreigners to reside in the Philippines for an indefinite period of time, as long as the required conditions are met. The Special Investors Resident Visa is restricted to individuals who are at least 21 years of age, and have the necessary qualifications to become Visa holders. The foreigner-applicant must also abide by the rules provided in the issuance of the Special Investors Resident Visa.
Who are qualified to avail of a Special Investors Resident Visa?
To qualify for an SIRV, the foreigner-applicant must be at least 21-years of age and meet the following qualifications:
- He/she must not be a threat to the Philippines' national security
- He/she must not have been afflicted with a loathsome/contagious disease
- He/she must not have been institutionalized for a mental disorder/disability.
- He/she must be willing to invest at least 75,000 USD in a sustainable enterprise in the Philippines
What are the advantages in obtaining a Special Investors Resident Visa?
SIRV holders will be able to avail of the following benefits
- The foreigner will be able to remain in the Philippines for an indefinite period of time, as long as the SIRV retains its validity.
- The foreigner will be able to import household goods and other personal effects free of tax charges.
What are the requirements in obtaining a Special Investors Resident Visa?
Listed below are the documentation requirements in obtaining an SIRV:
- BOI Form for Principal Applicant
- BOI Form for Dependents (i.f.f. the foreigner applicant has a spouse, child, etc.)
- Complete Personal History Statement
- Deed of Undertaking (must be signed and notarized)
- Police Clearance (accomplished abroad and duly authenticated by the Philippine embassy)
- Clearance from the National Bureau of Investigation's (NBI) Interpol Division, valid for 6 months
- Medical Certificate (must be authenticated by the Bureau of Quarantine and the Dept. of Health)
- Birth certificate (authenticated by the Philippine embassy)
- Marriage contract (only if applicable, must be authenticated by the Philippine embassy)
- Proof of Remittance from the Development Bank of the Philippines
- Processing fee of USD 300/person
- Bureau of Immigration fees
Converting a Special Investors Resident Visa from probationary to permanent:
The following requirements are needed for foreigners interested in obtaining a permanent SIRV:
- BOI fee (Php 2,000 per person)
- Bureau of Immigration fee (Php 1,010 per person)
Where do you apply for a Special Investors Resident Visa?
- The Philippine embassy/consulate in the applicant's home country
- The One-Stop Action Center in the Board of Investments, if the foreigner applicant is already an investor in the Philippines
What is an SIRV identification card?
An SIRV identification card is issued to all SIRV holders in the Philippines. This exempts a holder's dependents from obtaining the following documents from the Bureau of Immigration:
- Special Return Certificate (SRC)
- Emigration Clearance Certificate (ECC)
- Alien Certificate of Registration (ACR)
An SIRV is renewed annually with a processing fee of Php 2,000. However, there are exceptions depending on the kind of investments made in the country.
